For more than 80 years writers have come to Iowa City to work on their manuscripts and to exchange ideas about writing and reading with each other and with the faculty.
The Iowa Writers' Workshop, at the University of Iowa, is a graduate-level creative writing program. At 87 years, it is the oldest writing program offering a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in the United States. Its acceptance rate is between 2.7% and 3.7%.

To apply to the Writers’ Workshop, you must send, in hard copy, a printed, unbound manuscript of your best work, accompanied by a completed manuscript coversheet. For poetry: Please submit ten to twelve poems.
