Irvin Kershner (born Isadore Kershner; April 29, 1923 – November 27, 2010) was an American director for film and television. Early in his career as a filmmaker he directed quirky, independent drama films, while working as a lecturer at the University of Southern California.

Irvin Kershner (born April 29, 1923, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S.—died November 27, 2010, Los Angeles, California) American television and film director who worked in a variety of genres but was perhaps best known for The Empire Strikes Back (1980) from the Star Wars series.
