Isabel Leigh was the daughter of Sir Ralph Legh and Joyce Culpeper, and the half-sister of Catherine Howard, the fifth wife of Henry VIII. She served as a lady-in-waiting to Catherine, and later became a guardian of Mary I and Elizabeth I.

Leigh is perhaps best known for a quarrel with his kinsman, Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey. On 13 July 1542, Howard was committed to the 'pestilent ayres' of the Fleet by the Privy Council for having struck Leigh.
