15 apr 2024 · Jackanory is a BBC children's television series which was originally broadcast between 13 December 1965 to 24 March 1996. The show's format was designed to stimulate an interest in reading, and usually involved an actor reading an abridged version of a children's novel or folk tale whilst seated in an armchair.
18 apr 2024 · Jackanory. For many people (of a certain age, perhaps!), the word Jackanory takes us right back to our early childhood where we listened or watched the BBC programme of that name. It was the simplest of ideas: someone read a story into the microphone, or to camera. All you had to do was listen.
