Janez Lenarčič (born 6 November 1967) is a Slovenian diplomat who has been serving as European Commissioner for Crisis Management in the Von der Leyen Commission since 2019. He is a former Director of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights within the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe .

After the hearing by the Committee on Development (DEVE) of the European Parliament, the committee prepares an evaluation letter on the candidate. Parliament is expected to vote on the new Commission as a whole on 23 October.
11 dic 2023 · Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarčič is in Geneva today to participate in the launch of the UN's 2024 Global Humanitarian Overview. There, Commissioner Lenarčič will reiterate the call for broadening the donor base and ensuring respect of international humanitarian law.
