Jawbox is an American post-hardcore band from Washington, D.C., formed in 1989 by J. Robbins (vocals/guitar), Kim Coletta (bass), and Adam Wade (drums). After the trio released the album Grippe in 1991, Bill Barbot (guitar/vocals) joined as the fourth member.

Sito ufficiale. Modifica dati su Wikidata · Manuale. I Jawbox sono stati un gruppo alternative rock [1] statunitense, formato nel 1989 a Washington, D.C. dal cantante e chitarrista J. Robbins, la bassista Kim Coletta ed il batterista Adam Wade.
I Jawbox vennero formati nel 1989 da Jay Robbins subito dopo lo scioglimento dei Government Issue, con Kim Coletta al basso. Il primo album, Grippe (Dischord, 1991), stende un ponte ideale fra l'hardcore intellettuale (contorto, cervellotico, tenebroso) di Nation Of Ulysses e Fugazi e il punk-pop da classifica.
Jawbox played its first show opening for Fugazi in 1989. Not long after that, the band began to tour and record, releasing its first single, “Tools & Chrome”, in 1990 as a split between Desoto and Dischord. Jawbox released two full-length records on Dischord, “Grippe” and “Novelty,” and toured heavily throughout the ’90s.
