Jean Baptiste Joseph, chevalier Delambre (19 September 1749 – 19 August 1822) was a French mathematician, astronomer, historian of astronomy, and geodesist. He was also director of the Paris Observatory, and author of well-known books on the history of astronomy from ancient times to the 18th century.

Jean-Baptiste-Joseph Delambre (born Sept. 19, 1749, Amiens, Fr.—died Aug. 19, 1822, Paris) was a French astronomer who prepared tables that plot the location of Uranus. In 1771 Delambre became tutor to the son of M. d’Assy, receiver general of finances. In 1788 d’Assy built an observatory for Delambre’s use.
