Johannes Rau ( Wuppertal, 16 gennaio 1931 – Berlino, 27 gennaio 2006) è stato un politico tedesco, Presidente federale della Germania dal 1º luglio 1999 al 30 giugno 2004, è stato membro della Partito Socialdemocratico di Germania e presidente dal 1993 al 1995 .

Johannes Rau (* 16. Januar 1931 in Wuppertal; † 27. Januar 2006 in Berlin) war ein deutscher Politiker ( SPD) und von 1999 bis 2004 der achte Bundespräsident der Bundesrepublik Deutschland. Rau war von 1969 bis 1970 Oberbürgermeister der Stadt Wuppertal und anschließend Wissenschaftsminister in Nordrhein-Westfalen.
Johannes Rau (German: [joˈhanəs ˈʁaʊ] ⓘ; 16 January 1931 – 27 January 2006) was a German politician . He was the president of Germany from 1 July 1999 until 30 June 2004 and the minister president of North Rhine-Westphalia from 20 September 1978 to 9 June 1998.

Johannes Rau, born in 1931 in Wuppertal, dropped out of grammar school before taking the Abitur and became an active member of the Confessing Church. He trained in the book trade, later worked as an editor and sales representative and finally became a director at the publishing house Jugenddienst-Verlag in Wuppertal.
Johannes Rau war Träger zahlreicher Orden und hat viele Auszeichnungen und Würden erhalten, u.a. 14 Ehrendoktoren, 4 Ehrensenatoren, 1 Ehrendozentur.
