John Maurer (born July 14, 1961) is an American musician who was a longtime bass guitarist for Social Distortion from 1984 to 2004. Career. He joined Social Distortion in early 1984 following the departure of Brent Liles. He played on every album from Prison Bound to Sex, Love and Rock 'n' Roll.

John Maurer was the bassist for punk rock band Social Distortion between 1984 and 2004. Just a month before the Sex, Love and Rock 'n' Roll album was released, Maurer left Social Distortion in August 2004 to stay home and devote time to his wife and two children.
