John Peter Spyros Sarbanes (/ ˈ s ɑːr ˌ b eɪ n z / SARR-baynz; born May 22, 1962) is an American lawyer and politician serving as the U.S. representative for Maryland's 3rd congressional district since 2007. He is a member of the Democratic Party.
