13 mag 2024 · Joseph Hellmesberger was the Director of the Vienna Conservatory, and Goldmark and he were lifelong friends. When the Quartet premiered the work in 1862, audience reaction was approving, but critics were less appreciative, claiming that Goldmark was trying too hard to be “clever” in his compositional devices.

3 giorni fa · A child prodigy, Enescu created his first musical composition at the age of five. Shortly thereafter, his father presented him to the professor and composer Eduard Caudella. At the age of seven, he entered the Vienna Conservatory, where he studied with Joseph Hellmesberger, Jr., Robert Fuchs, and Sigismund Bachrich.
