Joseph Aloysius Lyons CH (15 September 1879 – 7 April 1939) was an Australian politician who was the tenth prime minister of Australia, in office from 1932 until his death in 1939.

Joseph Aloysius (Joe) Lyons was Australia's 10th Prime Minister. He was in office for 7 years, only a few days short of matching the then record term of William Hughes. He was the first Australian Prime Minister to die in office.
Joe Lyons was the Premier of Tasmania before entering federal parliament. He was one of Australia’s longest serving Prime Ministers and co-founded the United Australia Party, which held government from 1931 through to 1941.
Joseph Lyons was one of Australia’s longest serving and most popular prime ministers. His commitment to Australians living within their means, even during the extreme conditions of the Great Depression, led him to abandon the Labor Party for the conservative side of politics.
