Just as rational behavior and social etiquette are overturned in Wonderland, the concept of justice is assaulted during the trial. The jurors, who must write down their names to remember them, can hardly deliver an informed verdict, yet the King calls for them to do so even before witnesses are heard.
3 mar 2011 · The extreme violence assigned the “aristocracy” of Wonderland (the Duchess and the Queen) as well as the ridiculous mangling of justice in the Trial (“Sentence first, then verdict”; and indeed, the British justice system at the time was in shambles) are both often used as evidence that Alice belongs perhaps more to the genre of Political Satire than even Carroll realized.
