GEOGRAPHY. Klodzko is situated in south-western Poland, 100 km south of Wroclaw, in the Lower Silesian voivodship. Built on both banks of the river Nysa Klodzka, it is surrounded by mountains on all sides. Covering an area of 25 km2, Klodzko has upwards of 28,000 inhabitants and its climate is one of the warmest in the country.

Once known in German as Glatz, Kłodzko has long been a strategic point on the road between Prague and Wroclaw. Following WWII, the city went through several hardships including landslides and economic struggles.
Kłodzko, city, Dolnośląskie województwo (province), southwestern Poland, in the Sudety (Sudeten) mountains on both sides of the Nysa Kłodzka River. A Polish frontier settlement existed there from the 6th to the 10th century; a fortress was then built to protect the town from Bohemian forces.
