Kenneth Peacock Tynan (2 April 1927 – 26 July 1980) was an English theatre critic and writer. Initially making his mark as a critic at The Observer, he praised John Osborne 's Look Back in Anger (1956) and encouraged the emerging wave of British theatrical talent.
The finest drama critic since George Bernard Shaw, architect of Olivier's National Theatre repertoire, deviser of the erotic revue Oh! Calcutta!, journalist and social reformer, Kenneth Tynan was, in Tom Stoppard's words, "the product of our time, but our time was of his making."
