Henri La Tour, a strolling player, is also a daring adventurer. So, when, after accomplishing a brilliant feat, he is awarded a title by King Louis XV, the Duke of Saint-Sever takes offense at it and challenges Henri to a duel.
Film Synopsis. I n the mid-17th century, Henri La Tour leads a troupe of travelling actors at the time when France is at war with Austria. Appearing before King Louis XV and his court, La Tour displeases the Duke of Saint-Sever, who orders him to be flogged.
