In the late 1920s the art school became known as Leeds College of Art. By 1946, no less than fifteen past students had been appointed as principals of schools of art. As our reputation grew, new design departments were formed, including furniture, graphic design and printmaking.
It was known as Leeds College of Art and Design until 2009, and then as Leeds College of Art. In August 2017, the school was granted university status and the name was changed to Leeds Arts University. Locations. The Course. Originally developed at the University in the 1950s, the Foundation Diploma is a well-respected and nationally recognised qualification. This intensive one-year course challenges your preconceptions and stretches your art and design practices through problem-solving, idea generation, and critical thinking.
You’ll need a bachelor degree with a 2:1 (hons) or equivalent qualification in a design or art degree specialising in one the following subjects: art and design, fine art, fashion design, graphic design, visual communication design, information design, branding, design for sustainability, colour design, sculpture, printmaking, textiles.
Fondato nel 1846 con il nome di Leeds School of Art, dal 1968 al 1993 l'ente era noto come Jacob Kramer College, quando perse alcuni fondi a vantaggio del Politecnico di Leeds (la futura Leeds Beckett University). Era conosciuto come Leeds College of Art and Design fino al 2009; in seguito ha assunto il nome di Leeds College of Art.
