Joan Trotter II. Edward Kitchener " Ted " Trotter, better known as Grandad (9 July 1905 – c. February 1985), [1] is a fictional character who was one of the original leads of the BBC sitcom Only Fools and Horses. He appeared in the show's first three series, played by Lennard Pearce. The character is grandfather to Del Boy and Rodney Trotter.
21 nov 2022 · Lennard Pearce, better known by Only Fools and Horses fans simply as ‘Grandad’, had died before Buster Merryfield was brought into the show as Uncle Albert. Uncle Albert had actually been written into the show in February 1985, shortly after Lennard’s death two months earlier.

Remarkably this interview was just before the new series and only 2 weeks before Lennard Pearce died. As we know John Sullivan made a remarkable change to the Only Fools And Horses scripts for Series 4.

He starred in the last years of his life as Grandad in the sitcom Only Fools and Horses , from its beginning in September 1981 until his death in December 1984.
