Liam Dominic Byrne (born 2 October 1970), is a British politician serving as the Member of Parliament for Birmingham Hodge Hill since 2004. A member of the Labour Party , he served in Prime Minister Gordon Brown ’s Cabinet from 2008 to 2010.
Byrne and his close friend Liam Greenhalgh, the Ireland under-16 captain, carried out armed robberies on two shops in Dublin's south inner city in July 1998. During the second robbery, an off-duty Garda walked into the shop. Liam pleaded guilty to burglary, dangerous driving and firearms charges.
