1 apr 2011 · Linda Gray Sexton's courage in this memoir is stunning, and an inspiration to all of us who had/have ambivalent relationships with a troubled parent. At first I gravitated toward it because of my admiration of Anne Sexton's poetry, but I soon discovered that Linda Sexton's voice is even more captivating, human, and real than that of her late mother's.

Linda Gray Sexton was born in Newton, Massachusetts in 1953 and graduated from Harvard University in 1975. She is the daughter of the Pulitzer Prize winning poet, Anne Sexton, and has edited several books of her mother's poetry and a book of her mother's letters, as well as writing a memoir about her life with her mother, "Searching for Mercy Street: My Journey Back To My Mother, Anne Sexton."
Linda Gray Sexton is the daughter of Pulitzer Prize–winning poet Anne Sexton. She has written four novels and two memoirs, Half in Love: Surviving the Legacy of Suicide and Searching for Mercy Street, both published by Counterpoint. She lives in Redwood City, California.
Linda Gray Sexton is a writer. She was raised in Newton, MA, and currently lives in Maryland. She was 64 years old when I interviewed her in Annapolis, MD, on November 6, 2017. It’s almost hard to know where to start, because there are so many facets to it. I guess chronologically is one way to go.
