Rear-Admiral Lord Adolphus FitzClarence GCH ADC (18 February 1802 – 17 May 1856) was a British Royal Navy officer and illegitimate son of Prince William, the future William IV, and his mistress Dorothea Jordan. FitzClarence joined the navy in 1813.

20 ore fa · Lord Adolphus FitzClarence (18 February 1802 - 17 May 1856) Adolphus FitzClarence was born at Bushy House. He attended a boarding school in Sunbury-on-Thames before being sent to sea at the age of eleven in 1813. He subsequently served as a midshipman aboard Newcastle based in North America and then later in the Mediterranean Sea.
In May 1823 he was made commander, and captain in December 1824. In 1826 he commanded the Ariadne in the Mediterranean, in 1827 the Challenger, in 1828 the Pallas, and in July 1830 was appointed to the command of the royal yacht, which he retained till promoted to flag rank on 17 September 1853.
