It was produced by ex- Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek and includes a cover of the 1967 Doors song "Soul Kitchen".

14 set 2016 · Consider, too, that Manzarek—who got handed $10,000 by Slash to record Los Angeles and $15,000 to record Wild Gift—pretty much produced both albums for free and gave the money to the studios: Golden Sound in Hollywood for the former, Clover Recorders in Los Angeles for the latter.

12 gen 2015 · X - Los Angeles/Wild Gift (1980/1981) Note: the CD I listened to was not the 2001 reissue. Like most punk music, these 2 albums are full of frenetic, intense aggression and energy, but I also dig X's literate, honest lyrics when I can decipher what they're singing about.

Wild Gift showcases the band's unique punk rock style, which infuses roots rock, country, blues, R&B, and rockabilly. In 1988, Slash issued Los Angeles and Wild Gift jointly on a single compact disc. Wild Gift was remastered and reissued in 2001 by Rhino Records, with seven bonus tracks.
