Anna Louise Day Hicks (October 16, 1916 – October 21, 2003) was an American politician and lawyer from Boston, Massachusetts, best known for her staunch opposition to desegregation in Boston public schools, and especially to court-ordered busing, in the 1960s and 1970s.

One prominent leader of these anti-busing protests was Louise Day Hicks, chairwoman of the Boston School Committee, former member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives and leader of an anti-busing group called Restore Our Alienated Rights (ROAR).
Louise Day Hicks began her political career in 1961 with her successful election as the chairperson of the Boston School Committee as “the only mother on the ballot.” [2] When the NAACP demanded a recognition of the de facto segregation of Boston schools in 1963, Hicks and the Boston School Committee refused to acknowledge anything.
