Durante la guerra antinapoleonica Y. forzò l'Elba presso Wartenburg (ott. 1813), attaccò i Francesi a Lipsia e varcò il Reno (genn. 1814). Ebbe allora il titolo di conte di Wartenburg. Abbandonò l'anno seguente la carriera militare, per ritirarsi nei suoi feudi slesiani.
Yorck von Wartenburg was a Prussian general who served in the Grande Armée as a lieutenant of Blücher's corps. He was a key figure of the regeneration of Prussia and a defector who signed the Tauroggen Convention with the Russians in 1813. He commanded the first Prussian corps in the battles of Wartenburg, Möckern, Laon and other campaigns.
