He held academic positions in English literature at both Magdalen College, Oxford (1925–1954), and Magdalene College, Cambridge (1954–1963).

Professor Pascal Menoret has been appointed as the new Khalid bin Abdullah al Saud Professor for the Study of the Contemporary Arab World and a Fellow of Magdalen College. Pascal Menoret is the Renée and Lester Crown Professor of Modern Middle East Studies at Brandeis University.
