Magdalena Luther (4 May 1529 – 20 September 1542) was the third child and second daughter of German priest and iconic figure of the Protestant Reformation, Martin Luther and his wife, Katharina von Bora. She died at the age of thirteen.

Magdalena Luther, beloved daughter of the Wittenberg reformer, died on 20 September 1542 at the age of thirteen. 1 Her parents were devastated by her slow death from a virulent fever.
'The original by Lucas Cranach the Elder, 1520, is in the Louvre and the sitter has been erroneously identified as Magdalena Luther. In 1520 Luther was still a monk. There are numerous engravings (mostly 18th and 19th century) after this painting, which bear the same erroneous title.'
