History. Formation. In 2002, Brown was traveling with a heavy tour schedule of approximately 200 dates a year. The initial Zac Brown Band lineup consisted of Brown, on acoustic guitar and lead vocals, backed by drummer Marcus Petruska and bass guitarist Jacob Lawson.

Marcus is a Grammy-nominated, first-call drumset artist who has worked with some of the biggest names in the music business. In addition, he marched in The Cadets, a world-championship DCI drum corps. He was also first-chair drummer in the state, during his senior year of high school.
