Overview. Maria, or the Wrongs of Woman is a fragmentary, philosophical novel written by the English writer, intellectual, and feminist Mary Wollstonecraft. Wollstonecraft worked on the novel throughout 1797, leaving it unfinished when she died due to complications from childbirth on September 10, 1797.
