Erik Martin " Axe " Axenrot [1] (born 5 March 1979 in Linköping, Sweden) is a Swedish death metal drummer, best known as the former drummer for progressive metal band Opeth (2005-2021). Since 2004, he is the drummer for Bloodbath.

16 nov 2021 · After sixteen years, Opeth have parted ways with drummer Martin “Axe” Axenrot, the band announced today. The reason behind the split was an unspecified “conflict of interest.” Therion’s Sami Karppinen will fill-in for Opeth’s co-headlining tour with Mastodon, which kicks off tonight in Asheville, NC.
