Marvel Phase 5's second year is underway

Deadpool 3 will see Ryan Reynolds' Merc with a Mouth joined by Hugh Jackman, who reprises his iconic role as Wolverine. Half of the movie had been shot before the 2023 actors strike, which filming resuming last November.
Stefan Kapicic's Colossus is rumored to return from Deadpool's first two movies (via Deadline), as is Rob Delaney's Peter from Deadpool 2 (per Deadline). Karan Soni's Dopinder and Leslie Uggams' Blind Al (Deadline again), plus Brianna Hildebrand's Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Shioli Kutsuna's Yukio (once more via Deadline) are also believed to be back.
Morena Baccarin, who played Deadpool's girlfriend in the first two films, told the Josh Wilding Show she'll be back for the threequel. However, Charlie Cox's Daredevil won't make a surprise appearance and Zazie Beetz's Domino seemingly won't show up, either (per Decider).

Captain America: Brave New World, whose title has ties to a shocking Marvel comic series, will see Mackie will return as Sam Wilson/the new Cap. Matthew Orton (Moon Knight) has been hired (per Deadline) to rewrite parts of the script, with reshoots set to take place in mid-2024.
Legendary actor Ford will portray Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross, the role held by William Hurt until his death in March 2022. Danny Ramirez and Carl Lumbly are believed to be reprising their roles as Joaquin Torres and Isaiah Bradley from Falcon and the Winter Soldier, while Tim Blake Nelson's Samuel Sterns/The Leader could make his first MCU appearance since 2008's The Incredible Hulk (per Variety).
Variety also claims Shira Haas (Unorthodox) will play Israeli superheroine Sabra, who may provide another link to mutants in the MCU, while Xosha Roquemore (Atlanta) has reportedly landed a key role (via Deadline). Professional wrestler Seth Rollins and Undone's Rosa Salazar have been spotted on set, with the duo believed to be playing members of the Serpent Society (per Lizzie Hill and MyTimeToShineHello).

Billed as an anti-hero Avengers-style film, Thunderbolts is being helmed by Jake Schreier (director) and Lee Sung Jin (head writer), who created hit Netflix show Beef. Per industry insider CanWeGetSomeToast (CWGST), Thunderbolts will be similar in tone to Guardians of the Galaxy and won't be R-rated. Wyatt Russell says filming will begin in March or April (per The Hollywood Reporter).
Stan's Bucky Barnes, Dreyfus' Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Pugh's Yelena Belova, Harbour's Red Guardian, Kurylenko's Taskmaster, Russell's US Agent, and Kamen's Ghost are set to feature. Harrison Ford's Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross will also play a supporting role. Ayo Edebiri (The Bear) has also joined the cast (per Variety),
Sadly, Invincible's Steven Yeun, who previously joined the Thunderbolts' cast, has since departed Marvel's Thunderbolts' movie due to scheduling conflicts.

After his off-screen Eternals cameo, Blade is getting an R-rated MCU movie (per Deadline). Michael Green (Logan, Blade Runner 2049) is writing its screenplay (via Variety), becoming the fifth writer to taackle its plot. Principal photography may start in Q3 or Q4 2024, according to MCU scooper Charles Murphy.
Ali (Green Room, Luke Cage) will star as the titular vampire hunter. Industry insider DanielRPK also suggests Saul Williams (Neptune Frost) has been cast as Jamal Afari, joining Delroy Lindo (Da 5 Bloods) and Joshua Mikel (Ozark) on the reported hires list. Mia Goth (Pearl, Infinity Pool) is also believed to be playing an iconic Marvel villain (DanielRPK, per Blade Updates).
Don't expect Kit Harington's Black Knight (last seen in Eternals) or Oscar Isaac's Moon Knight to cameo, especially now Harrington has said he was never set to appear in Blade.

Originally billed as a TV show, Armor Wars will now be a movie, with Yassir Lester (Black Monday) is writing the script. According to DanielRPK (via Armor Wars News), Marvel wants a director in place by March 2024.
It'll follow Cheadle's James 'Rhodey' Rhodes/War Machine as he pursues criminals who have acquired some old Tony Stark-developed technology. It's likely to follow up on events in Secret Invasion's finale, given what we learned about Rhodey (or what fans have fiercely debated about him, anyway) in that series.
The Department of Damage Control (DoDC) – seen in projects including She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Ms Marvel, and the MCU's Spider-Man trilogy – may show up. Ironheart could also appear following her debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and ahead her own TV show. Alex P suggests Sam Rockwell's Justin Hammer might appear in the MCU for the first time since Iron Man 2, too.

A fourth Spider-Man MCU movie is in early development, with Holland expected to return. There were reports it could release in July 2024, but that clearly won't happen. You shouldn't expect a new Spider-Man movie until June 2025, according to industry insider Alex P.
CWGST suggests it'll tie into the MCU's other "street level" projects, including Hawkeye, Echo, and Daredevil: Born Again. This Marvel Phase 5 movie might even feature Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock/Daredevil (per DanielRPK, via the Hollywood Handle) and Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk/Kingpin (via Charles Murphy) in big supporting roles.

This Marvel Phase 5 dark musical comedy series, which is now called Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, sees Kathryn Hahn reprise her beloved WandaVision role as Agatha Harkness. We got our first glimpse at the show in a behind-the-scenes featurette, which was released by Marvel in late 2023 (watch it above).
Patti LuPone (Last Christmas) claims Darkhold Diaries will arrive in time for Halloween 2024, confirmed she's playing a witch called Lilia Calderu (per The Wrap) and told Entertainment Weekly that Heartstopper's Joe Locke is playing a grown-up Billy Maximoff/Wiccan. There's also speculation Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda could feature (per Deadline).
Meanwhile, DanielRPK (via the Scarlet Witch News X fan account) claims Sasheer Zamata (Tuca & Bertie) has been cast as Jennifer Kale, while Ali Ahn (Raising Dion) will play a detective with magical abilities named Alice Gulliver (via Agatha News). The Scarlet Witch Updates X fan account also suggests The Continental's Marina Mazepa has signed on in an undisclosed role.

A surprise Marvel Phase 5 announcement in December 2023, Eyes of Wakanda is a Black Panther Disney Plus spin-off that's seemingly set to release this year. Its logline reads as follows: "Throughout Wakandan history, brave warriors have been tasked to travel the world retrieving dangerous vibranium artifacts. This is their story."

A revival of 90s staple X-Men: The Animated Series (X:TAS) this show will be Marvel Studios' first X-Men project (Deadpool 3 notwithstanding). The Hollywood Reporter suggests it'll arrive in early 2024.
X-Men 97, which is being helmed by Beau DeMayo (The Witcher), serves as a direct sequel to its predecessor, with X:TAS' storylines set to be continued from the outset. Some of X:TAS' cast (listed above) have returned to voice their characters. New fan-favorite superheroes, such as Sunspot and Madelyne Pryor will also show up. CWGST suggests its animation style will be "very anime inspired", though we suspect that'll be married with the original show's 2D animated form.
What are the chances of this Marvel Phase 5 series laying the groundwork for the X-Men's live-action reveal in the MCU? Given what went down in The Marvels' mid-credits scene (no spoilers here), it's still a possibility. In the meantime, Marvel will release a four-issue comic series that ties X:TAS and X-Men 97 together. A second season is already in development, too, according to Zann.
