Barclay de Tolly was a German-speaking Russian general who commanded the Russian forces in the Napoleonic Wars. He fought in the Russo-Turkish, Russo-Swedish and Polish campaigns, and was wounded at Eylau. He was promoted to count and Prince of the Russian Empire in 1815, and died in 1818.
