The description and understanding of the dynamics behind pathological grief are highly relevant in modern medicine and psychiatry, and the condition has finally been recognised as a separate diagnostic unit.

My doctoral thesis focused on mourning and melancholia, specifically examining and extending Ronald Fairbairn's object-relations theory using a creative methodology of imaginal dialogue with Virginia Woolf.
