Muhammad Yunus (in lingua bengalese: Muhammod Iunus) (Chittagong, 28 giugno 1940) è un economista e banchiere bengalese. È ideatore e realizzatore del microcredito moderno, ovvero di un sistema di piccoli prestiti destinati ad imprenditori troppo poveri per ottenere credito dai circuiti bancari tradizionali.
Biografia • Una banca per i poveri. Muhammad Yunus nasce il 28 giugno 1940 a Chittagong, il più importante centro economico del Bengala Orientale, in Bangladesh. Terzo di 14 figli, cinque dei quali morti ancora bambini, si è laureato in Economia nella sua città e ha conseguito il dottorato all'Università Vandebirlt di Nashville (Tennessee).

In 2006 Yunus and Grameen received the Nobel Prize.
