Dario Marianelli is no stranger to period-correct soundtracks. The Italian composer has provided sonic backdrops for such time-specific films as Jane Eyre, Atonement, and Pride & Prejudice. Here, the opening “Overture” overflows with a blend of orchestral music from the era and substantial elements of Eastern European folk instrumentation.
Marianelli was born in Pisa, Italy. He studied piano and composition in Florence and London. After a year as a postgraduate composer at the Guildhall School of Music, he took up a three-year postgraduate program at the National Film and Television School in London, from which he graduated in 1997.
