4 giorni fa · The Paris Commune (French: Commune de Paris, pronounced [kɔ.myn də pa.ʁi]) was a French revolutionary government that seized power in Paris from 18 March to 28 May 1871. During the Franco-Prussian War of 1870–71, the French National Guard had defended Paris, and working-class radicalism grew among its soldiers.

On the eve of the French Revolution, the council was known as the Bureau de la Ville and had its headquarters in the Hôtel de Ville. The head of the council, the Prévôvot des Marchands, in the summer of 1789 was Jacques de Flesselles.
