Given that this was one of the group's highest charting albums, it would seem that both old and new fans agreed. "Pastpresent" is a very worthy first stop for potential fans of the group or for new fans who want to get their feet wet but not necessarily dive right in. "Closer To Your Heart", "Almost Seems (Too Late To Turn)", "In A Lifetime" (duet with Bono), "Something To Believe In" and "White Fool" (with Steve Perry) are worth picking out. This album may not be to everyone's taste but it reflects one of the few occasions the over-used adjective beautiful can be applied truthfully.
