Pere Ubu è un gruppo musicale statunitense, originario di Cleveland e formatosi nel 1975 per iniziativa di David Thomas (ex componente dei Rocket from the Tombs) alla voce, e Peter Laughner alla chitarra, poi sostituito nel 1976 da Tom Herman.
Pere Ubu is an American rock group formed in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1975. The band had a variety of long-term and recurring band members, with singer David Thomas being the only member staying throughout the band's lifetime. They released their debut album The Modern Dance in 1978 and followed with several more LPs before disbanding in 1982.
Oggi più che mai, appare sempre più chiaro che Pere Ubu è fondamentalmente un buco nero in cui il rock è costretto più volte a ritornare per dissolversi e rinascere, incapace di morire. Una compenetrazione mostruosa di tradizione e futurismo: questo il senso del tutto.
