Being very dissatisfied with the gallery/exhibition situation in art he found greater satisfaction playing with semi-professional musicians, though continued to paint (as well as retaining a level of control over his own records, particularly in record sleeve/CD booklet design).

    25 ago 2010 · Peter Brötzmann, best known as one of the founders of European improvised music and one of the most important jazz saxophonists of the post-60's era, began his creative life as a painter. Brötzmann began painting and making collages while still a teenager in the 1950s, in the German cities of Remscheid and Wuppertal, part of the industrial Ruhrgebiet area where he grew up.

Peter Brötzmann collaborated with many artists in his career, regularly adding new compatriots into the fold, and Norwegian drummer Paal Nilssen-Love became one of his staunchest allies after the percussionist joined the Chicago Tentet in 2004.   7. 28 ott 2009 · Brötzmann è in tour nel 1966 con Carla Bley, Michael Mantler e Steve Lacy, e debutta in campo discografico nel 1967 con Peter Kowald e Sven-Åke Johansson. Nel 1969 con Jost Gebers, Peter Kowald, Hans Reichel e altri fonda la cooperativa FMP (Free Music Productions) che nel 1968 pubblica il disco-manifesto “Machine Gun”, rimasto uno dei classici del free jazz europeo.
