Philippe Lazzarini (born 1964) is a Swiss-Italian humanitarian who has served as Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) since 2020.

Our leadership. On 18 March 2020, Mr Philippe Lazzarini was appointed Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) by United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres.
Philippe Lazzarini is the new Commissioner-General of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), appointed by the UN Secretary-General in 2020. He brings more than thirty years of experience in humanitarian assistance and international coordination in conflict and post-conflict areas, including as the Deputy Special Coordinator for Lebanon and the Head of the OCHA Office for the Palestinian territory.

18 mar 2020 · The Secretary-General appoints Philippe Lazzarini of Switzerland as the new Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugee in Near East (UNRWA), effective from 18 March 2020. Mr. Lazzarini brings to the position more than 30 years of experience in humanitarian assistance and international coordination in conflict and post-conflict areas.
