Phyllis Cilento. Phyllis Dorothy Cilento (1894-1987), medical practitioner, was born in Sydney on 13 March 1894, only child of Alice Lane (born Walker) and Charles Thomas McGlew, grain merchant. The family moved to Adelaide where Phyllis was educated at the progressive Tormore House school and the University of Adelaide.

Lady Phyllis Cilento had a medical practice attached to the residence, and was a respected gynocologist, obstetrician, and paediatrician. In 1931 she founded the Mothercraft Association of Queensland, serving as president until 1946. Sir Raphael West (Ray) Cilento was an expert in tropical medicine.
