L' abate Pierre Gassend, detto Gassendi (pronuncia italiana: [ɡasˈsɛndi] [1]; Champtercier, 22 gennaio 1592 – Parigi, 24 ottobre 1655 ), è stato un presbitero, filosofo, teologo, matematico, astronomo francese . In suo onore sono stati intitolati l' asteroide 7179 Gassendi e il cratere lunare Gassendi .
