Half the bars in my neighborhood have pinball machines now. So there’s not a ton of tension in Pinball: The Man Who Saved the Game. Instead, you get an extremely winning performance from Mike Faist, who is so darn likable that you root for the guy, even when he’s not doing much of anything but playing a lot of pinball.

Written and directed by Austin and Meredith Bragg, "Pinball: The Man Who Saved the Game" doesn't play with too heavy a hand, and the trumpet blast of the title is an ironic wink. The Braggs know they're telling a "footnote" story, a sliver of forgotten history, bizarre and ridiculous more than urgent and unjust.
