Karl Wilhelm of Hesse-Darmstadt (17 June 1693, Nidda - 17 May 1707, Gießen) was a Prince of Hesse-Darmstadt. Life. Charles William was the second son of Ernest Louis, Landgrave of Hesse-Darmstadt (1667–1739) from his marriage to Dorothea Charlotte (1661–1705), daughter of Albert II, Margrave of Brandenburg-Ansbach.
Prince Charles of Hesse and by Rhine (German: Karl) (23 April 1809 – 20 March 1877) was a German prince, officer and politician. He was the second surviving son of Louis II, Grand Duke of Hesse and Wilhelmine of Baden .
Children of Philip I, divided the land between them: William IV received Kassel. Louis IV received Marburg, which after his childless death was divided between his brothers; Philip II received Rheinfels, which after his childless death was divided between his brothers; George I received Darmstadt. An enemy of Kassel during the Thirty Years' War, Hessen-Darmstadt fights some of its bitterest battles against its neighbour. Darmstadt gains power after the war and the Peace of Westphalia (1648), along with a portion of Upper Hesse, the former Benedictine territory of Hersfeld, and part of Hessen-Marburg. 1651.
