Louis George Charles (German: Ludwig Georg Karl or Carl ), Prince of Hesse-Darmstadt (27 March 1749, Darmstadt - 26 October 1823, Darmstadt) was a German field marshal in the service of the Upper Rhenish Circle. He is also known in the primary and secondary sources as Prince Louis .
Prince Charles was buried at the Altes Mausoleum at Park Rosenhöhe in Darmstadt, one of the burial sites of the House of Hesse-Darmstadt . Charles's eldest son, Louis, would become Grand Duke of Hesse and by the Rhine upon the death of Charles's childless brother, Louis III, three months later in 1877.

Description. Lepec's enamel is possibly after a photograph by F. Bachofen of Darmstadt taken in 1862 at the time of the Prince of Hesse's marriage to Princess Alice, and shows Prince Louis wearing Imperial Russian uniform with the ribbon of the Order of Louis of Hesse and the neck badge of the Order of Philip of Hesse.
