The precise origins of Proussos Monastery are unknown. It is believed that the monastery was constructed between the 12th and 14th centuries. Prossous was one of several monasteries that stood in the Evritania region. Unfortunately, many of the others no longer remain today. They were slowly worn away by time and the elements.
