In Los Angeles, California, middle-aged documentary filmmaker Archie Powell (Martin Mull) struggles to make it big in Hollywood, much to the frustration of his mother (June Lockhart), who wants him to get married and start a family.
Quixotic & ironclad performance from Robert Downey Jr (top 5 personal favorite); Rented Lips (1987) excels as an irrefutable triumph in deconstructing a deeply over saturated medium. A muddied meditation on priests, pornography & production; I cherish Rented Lips but am afraid the film will never be seen by the masses.
