Richard firmly established his credentials with such epics as The Vikings (1958) , 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954) and Barabbas (1961) and also proved to be a master of intimate drama with Compulsion (1959) , which won Cannes Festival awards for the male stars.

14 mag 2024 · Richard Fleischer (1916–2006) was an American filmmaker who directed a number of popular movies, including such sci-fi classics as 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954) and Fantastic Voyage (1966).
Figlio del produttore e regista Max Fleischer e nipote di Dave, famosi cartoonist degli anni 20 e 30, inizia a studiare medicina ma si iscrive poi alla scuola drammatica di Yale. Dopo aver fondato e diretto una compagnia teatrale, all'inizio degli anni 40 entra nella RKO, dapprima come redattore e giornalista, e poi, dal 1944, come regista.
