The band's classic line-up featured frontman Sky Saxon, guitarist Jan Savage (born Buck Jan Reeder), keyboardist Daryl Hooper and drummer Rick Andridge. In 1968, the band changed their name to Sky Saxon and the Seeds, with Savage and Andridge departing the band.

10 ago 2020 · The group, originally consisting of Sky Saxon (vocals and lyrics), Daryl Hooper (piano/organ and music writer/arranger), Jan Savage (guitars), and Rick Andridge (drums), have been cited as a major influence on hundreds of accomplished musicians and bands from Iggy Pop to The Ramones.
Drummer Rick Andridge has also expanded his fills, giving the songs their suite-like qualities as he adopts a range of rhythms that throw everything into pronounced 3D. Sky Saxon, thankfully, has put more work into his lyrics this time.
The world had already been introduced to Sky Saxon, Daryl Hooper, Jan Savage, and Rick Andridge on the group’s three singles, but this was an entire LP, and it didn’t let up from start to finish. The fact that they were actually nice, regular guys (generally speaking) was hard to tell amidst the demented clamor rising from the LP’s grooves.
