Rick Famuyiwa (born June 18, 1973) is an American filmmaker and television director. He is best known for the films The Wood (1999), Brown Sugar (2002), and Dope (2015), as well for his work on the television series The Mandalorian.
Famuyiwa came in on the ground floor, directing the episode in Season 1 that set the tone and helped define the relationship between the Mandalorian and the kid. On set, Famuyiwa addresses the puppeteers behind Grogu as one, as if he’s any other cast member.
