River of Fundament is a 2014 operatic experimental film written and directed by American contemporary artist and filmmaker Matthew Barney, and co-directed by longtime collaborator Jonathan Bepler.

Norman II has taken rest in the River of Feces; knowing he must soon transform into a new body, he prepares to return to Hathfertiti. At a nearby taxi garage in Queens, New York, the spirit of Norman III is embodied as a 2001 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor.
Shot in gorgeous 4K digital video, RIVER OF FUNDAMENT is a tribute to the late Norman Mailer (who Barney befriended in his later years, and who appeared in CREMASTER 2 as Harry Houdini) in the form of a 5+ hour body horror nightmare opera.
